Question & Answer
Seeking help from shrine or ziarat?

Dear sir, in our locality , there is a ziarat of some saint, and people write their hajat (necessity or supplications) on a paper and put it in the building of the shrine, so that the shrine will fullfil their hajat or necessaty?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

We begin with Allah’s blessed name, we praise him and we glorify him, seek his forgiveness and ask him to guide us. Whoever Allah guides, None can lead astray and whoever he misguides, None can guide. There is no power and no strength except from Allah, The most high, the Most great, the most powerful. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers. We pray for peace and blessings on all the noble messengers and in particular on the last of them all “the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh)”

Allah says in the glorious Quran: If Allah helps you none can overcome you: if He forsakes you who is there after that that can help you? In Allah then let believers put their trust. Quran[3:160]

And put your trust in Allah Alone; and enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs. Quran [33:3]

Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what Allah has decreed for us: He is our Protector"; and on Allah let the believers put their trust. Quran [9:51]

Dear brother, Allah is sufficient for a believer as a disposer of all affairs, as All Power and All Strength absolutely and unconditionally belongs to Allah Alone, the Lord, the Creator, the Master and the Sustainer of the universe.

Dear brother, if anyone supplicates to anyone other than Allah, then know with absolute conviction that he is doing shirk, and the sin of shirk is so huge that Allah will forgive any sin, except the sin of shirk.

Whoever commits 'shirk' (invoking anything with Allah), Allah shall forbid for him Paradise, and Hell shall be his abode. And for such wrong doers there will be no one to help. Quran [5:72]

Shirk (associating other deities with Allah) is the only sin that Allah does not forgive, and He forgives, whomsoever He pleases, sins other than this. For whosoever associates any other partner with Allah, does indeed forge a big lie and commits the most heinous sin. Quran [4:48]

If you commit 'shirk' all your works will be rendered vain and you will be among the losers. Therefore, you should worship Allah Alone, and be among His grateful servants. Quran [39:65-66]

Dear brother, if one writes ones need, supplication, or hajat on a paper, and puts it in the shrine, in the belief that the shrine will fulfill the need, supplication or hajat, then one need understand that doing such things will surely led one to the humiliating hellfire, as it is shirk to supplicate to anyone other than Allah or to have belief that anyone other than Allah has the power to grant something to anyone, and shirk is the biggest sin.

Dear brother, one should absolutely abstain from doing such acts and should also abstain others (with humbleness) from doing such acts. And Allah alone knows the best.

I ask Allah to make this a sincere effort, seeking his pleasure, and I ask him to grant us refuge in him from the evils within ourselves, and that in our deeds. I ask him to grant us success in achieving whatever pleases him; And May Allah Shower His blessings and mercy upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his Companions and on all those who follow him until the final hour.
