Question & Answer
What are the consequences of burning chirag at home for awliya allah?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

We begin with Allah’s blessed name, we praise him and we glorify him, seek his forgiveness and ask him to guide us. Whoever Allah guides, None can lead astray and whoever he misguides, None can guide. There is no power and no strength except from Allah, The most high, the Most great, the most powerful. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers. We pray for peace and blessings on all the noble messengers and in particular on the last of them all “the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh)”

To the best of our knowledge neither the blessed prophet(pbuh) nor any of his companion ever practiced it(chirag for awliya allah) and thus absolutely is not part of the perfect deen of islam.

Narrated by Ali ibn AbuTalib That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said: "If anyone introduces an innovation (in religion), he will be responsible for it. If anyone introduces an innovation or gives shelter to a man who introduces an innovation (in religion), he is cursed by Allah, by His Angels, and by all the people." Sunan of Abu-Dawood [Hadith 4515]

Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said in a sermon: "The best speech is that which is embodied in the Book of Allah, the Al Quran; and the best guidance is the guidance given by me, Mohamed (saws). The most evil affairs are the innovations, and every innovation is an error." Sahih Muslim [ 1885]

Note here what the blessed prophet(pbuh) is saying “ EVERY INNOVATION IS AN ERROR”, thus includes every innovation, no matter how people categories them.

Aishah narrated that: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours (i.e. Islam) that is not part of it, will have it rejected." (Sahih) ibn majah [Vol. 1, Book 1, Hadith 14]

Thus a believer should fear Allah, and should avoid all these practices which have no base in Islam.

And Allah alone knows the best.

I ask Allah to make this a sincere effort, seeking his pleasure, and I ask him to grant us refuge in him from the evils within ourselves, and that in our deeds. I ask him to grant us success in achieving whatever pleases him; And May Allah Shower His blessings and mercy upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his Companions and on all those who follow him until the final hour.
