بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
We begin with Allah’s blessed name, we praise him and we glorify him, seek his forgiveness and ask him to guide us. Whoever Allah guides, None can lead astray and whoever he misguides, None can guide. There is no power and no strength except from Allah, The most high, the Most great, the most powerful. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers. We pray for peace and blessings on all the noble messengers and in particular on the last of them all “the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh)”
A bida means innovation, i.e. anything which is invented and added to the pure deen of Islam, after the deen of Islam was completed on the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh).
"This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed my favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as a religion." Quran(5: 3).
If one brings, invents, adds or innovates any act or deed in religion of islam, which has not been specifically endorsed by Allah and His Messenger (pbuh), then it has to be a 'bida' or innovatio.
Jabir b. Abdullah said: When Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) delivered the sermon, his eyes became red, his voice rose. and his anger increased so that he was like one giving a warning against the enemy and saying:" The enemy has made a morning attack on you and in the evening too." He would also say:" The last Hour and I have been sent like these two." and he would join his forefinger and middle finger; and would further say:" The best of the speech is embodied in the Book of Allah, and the beet of the guidance is the guidance given by Muhammad. And the most evil affairs are their innovations; and every innovation is error." SAHIH MUSLIM[Book 4: Hadith 1885]
The word "every" in "every innovation is error" includes everything, irrespective of whether you label it 'good' or 'bad' bida, for Islam's benefit or for Islam's harm. One can understand the enormity of the crime of introducing the innovations into the perfect deen of Islam from this narration.
The Prophet of Allah (saws) said:If anyone introduces an innovation, he will be responsible for it. If anyone introduces an innovation or gives shelter to a man who introduces an innovation (in religion), he is cursed by Allah, by His angels, and by all the people. ABU DAWUD[Book 39 : Hadith 4515]
then if milad is innovation there is nothing wrong with that as so many scholars had already celebrated this what about that. Imam jalaluddin sayuti, imam asqalani. Shaikh abdul haqq muhadis dehalvi etc. have celebrated then why not we people please answer sir
The milad(celebrating birthday of prophet mohammad(pbuh)) was first introduced by the Shee’ah Faatimids after the three best centuries of Islam. The next person to do this after them and re-introduce it Was King Al-Mudhaffar Abu Sa‘eed Kawkaboori, the king of Irbil, at the end of the sixth century or the beginning of the seventh century AH, as was mentioned by the historians such as Ibn Khalkaan, and others.
Thus it is not the blessed prophet nor are the rightly guided khalifahs who endorsed eid milad-un-nabi (celebrating birth day of prophet) in to Islam. The blessed prophet was aware, that some people, out of ignorance or for fame, would try to innovate things into the religion and would try to adulterate the perfect religion of Islam, so he warned of these evil affairs.Aishah narrated that: The Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said: "Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours (i.e. Islam) that is not part of it, will have it rejected." (Sahih) ibn majah [Vol. 1, Book 1, Hadith 14]
Here the blessed prophet has clearly guided the believers to reject the innovations, no matter how people label them, no matter who celebrates them, no matter who introduces them, no matter whether the innovator is learned or an ignorant, no matter whether the innovator is a scholar or student. Innovations are most evil affairs and every innovation is error and every error leads to hellfire.
In my humble opinion one should follow the guidance given by Allah & his blessed prophet, rather than following the guidance given by anyone else. The guidance given by Allah & his blessed prophet would never mislead anyone, but the guidance given by anyone else will surely lead one to astray. And Allah alone knows the best.
I ask Allah to make this a sincere effort, seeking his pleasure, and I ask him to grant us refuge in him from the evils within ourselves, and that in our deeds. I ask him to grant us success in achieving whatever pleases him; And May Allah Shower His blessings and mercy upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his Companions and on all those who follow him until the final hour.Ask Your Question
