Does our Islam allow a women to wear a transparent scarf?
We begin with Allah’s blessed name, we praise him and we glorify him, seek his forgiveness and ask him to guide us. Whoever Allah guides, None can lead astray and whoever he misguides, None can guide. There is no power and no strength except from Allah, The most high, the Most great, the most powerful. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers. We pray for peace and blessings on all the noble messengers and in particular on the last of them all “the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh)”
As Allah Says in the glorious Quran:
O prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when in the presence of non-mehrams):that is most convenient that they should be known (as such) and not molested: and Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful. QURAN[33:59]
Allah says in the glorious Quran:
And O Prophet, enjoin the believing women to restrain their gaze and guard their private parts and not to display their 'zeenata hunna' (beauty, adornment, etc.) except that which is displayed of itself (their face and hands), and to draw their veils over their bosoms and not to display their 'zeenatahunna' (beauty, adornment, etc.) except before their husbands, their fathers, the fathers of their husbands, their sons and the sons of their husbands, their brothers, their brothers sons, their sisters' sons, their female associates, and those in their possession and male attendants incapable of sexual desire, and those boys who have not yet attained knowledge of sexual matters. Also forbid them to stamp their feet on the ground lest their hidden ornaments should be displayed. QURAN[24:31]
The major criterias for the dress of a muslim women are:
- Clothes worn should not announce arrogance.
- Her 'satr' must be covered.
- She should not wear tight clothes which display her body curves and figure.
- The clothes she wears should not be an imitation of the disbelievers.
- She should not wear the dress of men.
- She should not wear transparent clothes.
- The only parts that can be visible are HANDS, FEET and FACE.
If none of the above restrictions are violated in a dress, then there is no harm in wearing that dress.
Covering hair is absolutely obligatory on a Muslim woman. A believing women should fear Allah, and should abstain from wearing a transparent headscarf (because the hair is the part of her ZEENAT) in presence of non-mahrams. The only parts of women that can be visible in the presence of non-mehram are the face, feet and hands.
And Allah alone knows the best.
I ask Allah to make this a sincere effort, seeking his pleasure, and I ask him to grant us refuge in him from the evils within ourselves, and that in our deeds. I ask him to grant us success in achieving whatever pleases him; And May Allah Shower His blessings and mercy upon our beloved Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his Companions and on all those who follow him until the final hour.
