Chatting with NON-MEHRAM
What does Islam say about chatting of a boy with a non mehrem girl, as there is no physical contact between the two?
We begin with Allah’s blessed name, we praise him and we glorify him, seek his forgiveness and ask him to guide us. Whoever Allah guides, None can lead astray and whoever he misguides, None can guide. There is no power and no strength except from Allah, The most high, the Most great, the most powerful. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers. We pray for peace and blessings on all the noble messengers and in particular on the last of them all “the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh)”
If a boy and a girl is involved in vain or sexual talks while chatting on internet, then this is absolutely prohibited in Islam.
This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book revealed before your time, when ye give them their due dowers and desire chastity, not lewdness nor secret intrigues. If anyone rejects faith fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).QURAN[5:5]
In Islam if any thing has been declared prohibited, then all the roads leading to it are also prohibited.
Allah says in the glorious Quran:
Do not even go near 'zina' (fornication or adultery) for it is a very indecent thing and a very evil way! QURAN[17:32]
Allah clearly says that we should not even go near to zina, which also means that we should not follow any of the way that leads to zina.
Narrated byUmar ibn al-Khattab
The Prophet (saws) said, "Whenever a man is alone with a woman, the Shaitaan is the third." Al-Tirmidhi[Vol. 4, Book 7, Hadith 2165 / Arabic: Book 33, Hadith 2318]
So when a non mehram boy and a girl are involved in vain chatting the shaitan is the third one joining them, The role of the Shaitan is merely to incite, inspire, and with flowery and colorful words invite one towards the transgression of the Boundaries of the Lord, and make their evil deeds fair-seeming to them.
That is why Allah has cautioned us regarding Shaitan and has declared him as our open enemy.
Allah Says in the glorious Quran:
Verily the Shaytaan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents that they may become companions of the Blazing Fire! QURAN[35:6]
Narrated 'Ali bin Al-Husain (from Safiya, the Prophet's wife):
..."The Shaytaan circulates in the human being as blood circulates in the body, and I was afraid lest the Shaytaan might insert an evil thought in your minds." SAHIH AL-BUKHARI[Volume: 3, Book :33, Hadith: 254]
So we have to keep alert about him and have to fail his every attempts that leads us to break any of the restriction of allah as Shaitaan always suggests the person to transgress any of the boundaries of Allah; the believers should immediately seek the refuge and protection of the All-Mighty Lord from the accursed Shaitaan by saying: "Aoodobillahe minas Shaitaan ar rajeem". If the person is sincere in seeking refuge and protection, Allah will protect him from the assaults of Shaitaan.
Thus In the casual chatting of two non-mehram members of the opposite sex, it is considered the developing of a relationship (even when there is no physical contact) between them, and such lewdness and secret intrigues is indeed a sin in the Sight of Allah.
However if one uses internet chatting to seek the knowledge or for some worthwhile work, then there is no harm , but one should be careful while chatting, and should not chat in a way that would give rise to any desire.
And Allah alone knows the best.
I ask Allah to make this a sincere effort, seeking his pleasure, and I ask him to grant us refuge in him from the evils within ourselves, and that in our deeds. I ask him to grant us success in achieving whatever pleases him; And May Allah Shower His blessings and mercy upon our beloved Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his Companions and on all those who follow him until the final hour.
