Question & Answer

Calling Omer Abdullah as Omer Singh?

What you will suggest the people of kashmir who call chief minister ( omer abdullah) of J&K as omer singh. Im neither the supporter of him nor a foe, but he belongs to us as a brother in islam?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

We begin with Allah’s blessed name, we praise him and we glorify him, seek his forgiveness and ask him to guide us. Whoever Allah guides, None can lead astray and whoever he misguides, None can guide. There is no power and no strength except from Allah, The most high, the Most great, the most powerful. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers. We pray for peace and blessings on all the noble messengers and in particular on the last of them all “the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh)”

The prophet (pbuh) said: Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Three things are the roots of faith:
(i) to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, "There is no god but Allah"
(ii) and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits,
(iii) and not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist). The tyranny of any tyrant and the justice of any just (ruler) will not invalidate it. One must have faith in Divine decree. Sunan Abu-Dawud [Book 14, Number 2526]

From the above guidance of our beloved prophet Mohammad (pbuh), it is absolutely clear that prophet Mohammad (pbuh) guided the believers that three things are considered the 'root' of faith or 'emaan'. Two amongst the three are:
not to declare a person who has declared the 'shahaadah' an unbeliever, whatever sins he may commit; and never to excommunicate the person from the fold of Islam for any of his actions!

The Prophet (pbuh) has said: "Whoever charges a believer with unbelief is as though he had killed him" Sahih Al-Bukhari[Vol. 8, Book 73, Hadith 126]

"Any man who says, 'O kafir' to his brother, one of them deserves the name " Sahih Al-Bukhari[Vol. 8, Book 73, Hadith 125]

If a believer calls another believer a kafir the kufur comes back to him. Thus the people in Kashmir should absolutely abstain from calling omer Abdullah as omer Singh (means that he is a Sikh following Sikhism). You can hate his administration but you should not excommunicate him or call him kafir. Calling a believer a kafir on the basis of sins does not make him kafir but you are simply severing your emaan. May Allah give us hidaya. And Allah alone knows the best.

I ask Allah to make this a sincere effort, seeking his pleasure, and I ask him to grant us refuge in him from the evils within ourselves, and that in our deeds. I ask him to grant us success in achieving whatever pleases him; And May Allah Shower His blessings and mercy upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his Companions and on all those who follow him until the final hour.
