Constructing saperate masjid?
Brother here in Kashmir, in my native town(pattan), a group of Muslims who claim to be ahl-hadith have separated themselves from other Muslim brothers and had constructed a separate masjid Sharif, on which most of other Muslim brothers had become upset, because other masjid is nearly 50 meters away from that masjid, and they also say that we cannot pray with those who are not praying rightly.
We begin with Allah’s blessed name, we praise him and we glorify him, seek his forgiveness and ask him to guide us. Whoever Allah guides, None can lead astray and whoever he misguides, None can guide. There is no power and no strength except from Allah, The most high, the Most great, the most powerful. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers. We pray for peace and blessings on all the noble messengers and in particular on the last of them all “the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh)”
Mahmud b. Labid reported:
When 'Uthman b. 'Affan intended to build the mosque (of the Prophet) the people did not approve of it. They liked that it should be kept in the same state. Thereupon he said: I heard the Messtnger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: He who built a mosque for Allah, Allah would build a house for him like it in Paradise. SAHIH MUSLIM[book:4, Hadith: 1085]
Ibn 'Abbas reports that the Prophet sallallahu alehi wasallam said:
"Whoever builds for Allah a mosque, even if it be tiny, like a bird's nest, Allah will build for him a house in paradise." This is related by Ahmad, Ibn Hibban, and al-Bazzar with a sahih chain
Thus constructing masjid should indeed be an honor for every believer, and a believer should spend as much as possible to construct a masjid and if any one does not have the means to build a house of Allah, then one should have intentions and should strive to build a masjid for the sake and pleasure of Allah, when ever Allah blesses him with abundance wealth.
Allah says in the Glorious Quran:
"O Believers, spend of the wealth we have bestowed upon you (in Allah's way), before the Day comes when there shall be no buying and no selling; when neither friendship nor intercession will be of any avail." QURAN [2:254]
Brother here in Kashmir, in my native town(pattan), a group of Muslims who claim to be ahl-hadith have separated themselves from other Muslim brothers and had constructed a separate masjid Sharif, on which most of other Muslim brothers had become upset.
Brother what is of supreme importance is that the intention behind building a Masjid, the intention should be for the Sake and Pleasure of Allah alone.
But if one has the intention to build a masjid to separate oneself from other believers then indeed it would a sin in the sight of Allah. Islam believes in fostering unity amongst its followers, As Allah says in the Quran:
"And hold fast, altogether, by the rope Which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves.' [Al-Quran 3:103]
"As for those who divide their religion and break up into sects, you have no part in them in the least: Their affair is with Allah: He will in the end tell them the truth of all that they did." [Al-Quran 6:159]
In this verse Allah (swt) says that one should disassociate oneself from those who divide their religion and break it up into sects.
Allah states unequivocally what is required to build the house of Allah:
"And there are those who put up a mosque by way of mischief and infidelity - to disunite the Believers - and in preparation for one who warred against Allah and His Messenger aforetime. They will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good; But Allah doth declare that they are certainly liars."
"Never stand thou forth therein. There is a mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety; it is more worthy of the standing forth (for prayer) therein. In it are men who love to be purified; and Allah loveth those who make themselves pure."
"Which then is best? - he that layeth his foundation on piety to Allah and His good pleasure? - or he that layeth his foundation on an undermined sand-cliff ready to crumble to pieces? and it doth crumble to pieces with him, into the fire of Hell. And Allah guideth not people that do wrong." QURAN [9:107-109]
Thus the first and most notable requirement for building a masjid is God-consciousness (taqwa).the masjid which has been founded on piety from the very first day, is the proper place for you to stand (for prayer). For there are such people in it as would like to keep themselves pure; and Allah likes those people who like to keep themselves pure.
If piety is not the foundation of the mosque, then the reward of the person is wasted in Allah's court, even though he might have spent millions on its construction and millions of people might have benefited from the building. What reaches Allah is not the masjid building, but Taqwa and that Taqwa is more valuable in the court of Allah than all the wealth of the earth.
So if a believer builds a masjid with intention for the sake and pleasure of Allah, then he shell get due reward.
They also say that we cannot pray with those who are not praying rightly.
And cover not Truth with falsehood, nor conceal the Truth when ye know (what it is).QURAN [2:42]
If a believer is ignorant in any religious matter, it is the legal obligation on other believer (who knows) to enlighten him with truth, and not to escape.
And Allah alone knows the best.
I ask Allah to make this a sincere effort, seeking his pleasure, and I ask him to grant us refuge in him from the evils within ourselves, and that in our deeds. I ask him to grant us success in achieving whatever pleases him; And May Allah Shower His blessings and mercy upon our beloved Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his Companions and on all those who follow him until the final hour.
