Question & Answer
A man who rejected to recite azan to his newly born baby?

An amazing event happened in the sopore town in north Kashmir, where a man who rejected to recite azan to his newly born baby and what shocked everybody was , he neither recited himself nor allowed any other to recite, he cried it is a bida?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

We begin with Allah’s blessed name, we praise him and we glorify him, seek his forgiveness and ask him to guide us. Whoever Allah guides, None can lead astray and whoever he misguides, None can guide. There is no power and no strength except from Allah, The most high, the Most great, the most powerful. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers. We pray for peace and blessings on all the noble messengers and in particular on the last of them all “the blessed prophet Mohammad (pbuh)”

"And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, leave it. And fear Allah: truly Allah is severe in punishment. " [Qur'an 59:7]

Reciting azan into the ears of the newly born baby is a preferred Sunnah, as proven through this narration:

Narrated by Abu Rafi' I saw the Messenger of Allah (saws) uttering the call to prayer (Adhan) in the ears of al-Hasan ibn Ali (r.a.) when Fatimah (r.a.) gave birth to him. ABU-DAWOOD[Book 41 : Hadith 5086] GRADE: HASAN(al-albani)

A bida means innovation, anything which is invented and added to the pure and perfect deen of Islam, after the deen of Islam has been completed on our beloved prophet Mohammad (pbuh).

If any act or deed in religion has been specifically endorsed by Allah or His Messenger (pbuh), no one is allowed to declare it bida, and if any one declares it bida is indeed against the established Sunnah of our beloved prophet (pbuh).

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Allah's Messenger (saws) said: 'He who called (people) to righteousness, there would be reward (assured) for him like the rewards of those who adhered to it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And he who called (people) to error, he shall have to carry (the burden) of its sin, like those who committed it, without their sins being diminished in any respect.' SAHIH MUSLIM[Book 34 : Hadith 6470]

If anyone claims reciting azan into the ears of new born is BIDA, you should show him the above quoted hadith to get him out of ignorance. May Allah guide, direct, lead and grant you and us the correct guidance . And Allah alone knows the best.

I ask Allah to make this a sincere effort, seeking his pleasure, and I ask him to grant us refuge in him from the evils within ourselves, and that in our deeds. I ask him to grant us success in achieving whatever pleases him; And May Allah Shower His blessings and mercy upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), his family and his Companions and on all those who follow him until the final hour.
